Country churches and Memorials

Roadside Memorials. Pictorial and documentary projects to show the diversity and meaning of roadside memorials in North America and in New Zealand. Most are in sites of fatal crashes, although some represent other deaths – including drowning nearby, or local residents. Most are in the form of crosses, which appears to be the customary symbol indicating death.

Country Churches. A project to share the design of small country churches inĀ  North America and in New Zealand. Most were built in the 19th century and have been lovingly cared for, even as the church-going population has declined. A simple vernacular architecture that is common to both regions.
